The YMCA of Greater Cleveland, which runs the French Creek Branch, 2010 Recreation Lane in Avon, and Vermilion Family YMCA, 1230 Beechview Drive in Vermilion, will join 100 Ys across the country in launching a free community-wide wellness challenge Feb. 7 called RESET, according to a news release.
Many people commit to New Year’s resolutions concerning health and wellness every year, but few stick to them, the release said.
Studies show that most people abandon their resolutions by February, barely making it 8 percent of the way through the year.
To help people carry through on their wellness goals, the Y is hosting the RESET Challenge, the release said.
The three-week challenge is free and open to the community, according to the release.
Thousands of people across the country will participate in the challenge, and they will share successes and motivate each other so they won’t be alone on their journey.
Participants will receive texts throughout the program featuring motivational tips and tools to set and reach goals, the release said.
They also will have the chances to win weekly prizes including an activity tracker smart watch, workout wireless headphones and athletic gear gift cards, according to the release.
Those interested in joining the challenge are encouraged to sign up by Feb. 1 by texting RESET to 844-889-6222.
