The Witcher franchise gets another entry, George R.R. Martin says that he has nothing to do with the demigods in Elden Ring, and much, much more.

Biggest Gaming News March 21 2022

Today was all about a brand new game, Elden Ring, and a relatively old game, The Witcher 3. When it comes to the latter, we heard that another entry in this beloved franchise will be coming out at some point in the near future. As for the former, the biggest news would have to be that George R.R. Martin has denied the rumor that all the demigods in the game were named after him. This only represents a little bit of what happened in the world of gaming today, so read on for all the details.

Witcher 3’s Seven-Year Long Vivienne Mystery Has Been Solved

We’ve known for a while that an easter egg has yet to be found in The Witcher 3, but we had no idea what to look for apart from the fact that we need to keep searching Skellige. This little hint came from Quest Designer Philipp Weber who mentioned last week that one easter egg remains undiscovered. “I wonder when they will find Vivienne’s last secret,” Weber said before noting that “it’s on Skellige” and “goes quite a bit further” than anyone might expect. Players have now figured this one out. Someone by the name of xLetalis noticed how the curse affecting Vivienne de Tabris in the Blood and Wine expansion actually comes to its conclusion.

The Witcher 4 Is Ditching The REDengine For Unreal

The biggest news about The Witcher 3 today was that we should keep our eyes open for a sequel. What form this might take remains unclear, but the developer behind the game, CD Projekt, will apparently be dumping the REDengine for Unreal Engine 5. “This is an exciting moment as we’re moving from REDengine to Unreal Engine 5, beginning a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games,” CD Projekt said in a statement. “It covers not only licensing but technical development of Unreal Engine 5 as well as potential future versions of Unreal Engine where relevant. We’ll closely collaborate with Epic Games’ developers with the primary goal being to help tailor the engine for openworld experiences.”

Elden Ring’s Demigods Aren’t Named After George R.R. Martin After All

There has been a rumor going around for a while to the effect that some connection must exist between George R.R. Martin and the demigods in Elden Ring because all of their names begin with G, R, and M. The author has now denied having any knowledge of this. “There’s a weird story all over the internet about how I ‘hid’ my initials in Elden Ring because… ah… some of the characters have names beginning with R or G or M. To which I say ‘eh? What? Really?’ This was news to me,” Martin wrote.

Elden Ring Player Beats Bosses Without Lifting A Finger

Players have been racking up some pretty impressive feats in Elden Ring recently, but someone by the name of InfernoPlus just took things to a new level. InfernoPlus has been systematically beating all of the bosses in Elden Ring without even lifting a finger. The player merely summons a spirit to do all the heavy lifting. “Bosses in Caelid and Altus are just a bit too strong for summons to do completely unaided,” InfernoPlus noted. “I will say that the summons are insanely powerful, though, and can pretty much carry you through some endgame fights as long as you are actively helping. I would even go so far as to say that the good summons are better than actual players in most cases.”

Elden Ring Player Details Their Regret Killing Pope Tortoise Miriel

Elden Ring players have been detailing their regrets over killing the tortoise Miriel. This character is a steward of the Church of Vows and one of the only non-player characters in the game that has no ulterior motives for helping you. In other words, you’re supposed to like them. But someone by the name of VG_Crimson has now gone and murdered the poor tortoise. “His cries of pain haunt my very morality,” the player said. “It’s a sad scream. Much higher pitched than you’d expect from one of his size.” VG_Crimson went on to say that “I have to live with this on my soul now. Don’t do this. There is nothing to gain and you lose not only the convenience of him, but you lose a part of yourself, too.”
