Another 7,587 flights were delayed and 1,291 were canceled in the United States on Tuesday, as airlines continue to scramble amid holiday travel and COVID-19 complications.
Of those, 212 delays were made at Logan International Airport in Boston with 55 cancelations, according to FlightAware. At Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, there were 52 delays and seven cancelations Tuesday.
So far on Wednesday, 589 flights have been delayed in the U.S., with 749 canceled, FlightAware reported. At Logan, 24 have been delayed and 40 have been canceled and at Bradley, three have been delayed and five canceled.
Widespread delays and cancelations began during Christmas travel. Complications are being attributed to staffing issues as the virus continues to spread. Monday’s bad weather in the western part of the country also caused issues to continue into this week, according to CNN.
Delta Airlines apologized for the issues, telling the Associated Press on Friday that COVID and bad weather “exhausted all options and resources — including rerouting and substitutions of aircraft and crews to cover scheduled flying.”
“Delta people are working hard to get them to where they need to be as quickly and as safely as possible on the next available flight,” the airline added.
